Handmade in Canada 1959SLP / Marshall Super Lead Plexi is probably the most iconic amp in entire rock history. The tones of this amp can be heard on famous rock records spanning generations and is sought after by many musicians.
1959 Plexi Preamp is our take on this famous rock tone in a pedal format. While the market has several "Plexi' type pedals available, we find that most tend to be too gainy and are more like distortion pedals as opposed to actual amp emulators. The idea behind 1959 Plexi was to recreate the tone of the late 60's early 70's Plexi amps in a preamp format. The design features JFET's which are great for emulating tube triodes.
Controls are similar to what one will find on a two channel Plexi from that era. Channel I and Channel II are internally jumpered, as preferred by many rock musicians, and can still be individually controlled using the seperate volume control for each channel.
Master: Controls the overall volume CH I : Volume control for the Treble channel CH II: Volume Control for the Bass Channel Bass, Mid, Treb: 3 band Tone stack as found in Marshall amps Pres: Increases Presence
Just like an actual tube amp, the gain on tap is medium and can be driven harder by using overdrives in front of it.
Since this is a preamp unit, it can either be used on a pedal board in signal chain as a drive, or you can run it directly into the effects loop of your favourite amp. Another way to use it is to run it directly into your DAW followed by speaker IR's.
This pedal runs on standard pedal power center negative DC supplies. It can be run from 9-18V for more headroom.
