SLOBurn - Soldano SLO Emulator
There is no denying the immense impact of Soldano SLO amps on the music industry since their introduction in the late 80's. From the likes of Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Gary Moore, Warren Haynes to Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, George Lynch and countless other artists have used Soldano SLO on records and live.
SLOBurn is our take on capturing the essence of the dirty channel of this legendary amp in a pedal format. The design features JFET's, which are excellent for emulating tube triodes at a much lower voltage.
Controls are simple 3 band EQ with Presence as you would find on the amps and are very interactive. In addition, there is a "Bright" switch which essentially adds or remove the Bright cap. Just like an actual amp, the difference can only be heard on the lower settings of Gain. With the cap in, the tone is your unmistakable focused Soldano tone. With the cap out, it gives you a fuller range of lower gain crunch great for rythms.
Master: Controls the overall volume
Gain: Controls the Gain
Bright SW : Adds or removes the Bright cap - Up-Cap in, Down-Cap out
Bass, Mid, Treb: 3 band Tone stack modelled after SLO tonestack
Pres: Presence control
Since this is a preamp unit, it can either be used on a pedal board in signal chain as a drive, or you can run it directly into the effects loop of your favourite amp. Another way to use it is to run it directly into your DAW followed by speaker IR's. Even though it has enough gain on top, you can drive it even harder by using an OD in front, as you would with an actual tube amp.
This pedal runs on standard pedal power center negative DC supplies. It can also be run anywhere from 9-18V for more headroom.
